My Life as a Bunny Clipper

The past week has been so lovely in Indiana. Hot? Granted.  Humid? Practically always.  But we've been spraying hoses and harvesting fresh mulberries and strawberries that stain our fingers purple and red.  Just yesterday I clipped Hoppy's giant-bunny-toenails and then petted her for a good half hour while watching Pat push our boys in their swings.  Idyllic.

I've also added an exciting new dimension to my life. I'm now the Assistant Regional Advisor (ARA) for the Indiana Chapter of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).  One thing that means is that I'll be attending the Annual SCBWI Conference in LA this August, where I'll have the mind-bending opportunity to meet Gary Paulsen, one of my writing heroes, in person!

How great is my life?  Good gravy, I'm lucky.

  1. Ah, she's so sweet!! I used to have indoor rabbits. The best part was watching them clean their ears. So cute! Congrats on your new position!

  2. We're the ones who are lucky, those of us in IN-SCBWI with you! :) Can't thank you enough for taking on that task!

Cute bunny...I prefer pets to the wild ones that eat our veggies. ;)

  3. Yay! So lovely, all of it!

  4. Congrats friend! SCBWI is lucky to have you! Will you be hitting NYC this winter...(hint hint!)
Also, can I fangirl HARD over Gary Paulson! My son is a major admirer!

  5. Thanks, Angie! She has a hutch outside as well as the little run I was in with her in the pic so she can run around on the grass. She is a very sweet bunny. My favorite is when she licks her bunny lips. Her tongue cracks me up for some reason. :D

You're so sweet, Teresa. :) I agree on the wild bunnies, but it seems once a year we find a nest and hold the wild baby bunnies and it makes me love them anyway. ;)

    Tara, thanks my dear!

Dana, I don't know about NYC yet, but I'll let you know! That would be incredible! :) And seriously about Gary Paulsen. I was filling out my volunteer form for the LA conference and it asked us to list, in order of preference, the people we would like to assist during any given time frame. I don't know how many exclamation points I put after his name when I wrote it first, but...it was truly a shameful number. ;)

I never bite the hand that comments
